CSS Web Design
I prefer to code my web pages by hand in CSS and XHTML using Dreamweaver (as a codeview/FTP development environment) and Adobe Fireworks for graphics. I can use Photoshop and Illustrator, but I find they are slower and basically overkill for most web projects.
Here are some examples of my recent work:
HF Borders Realtors
- I did all the CSS, vector work, all content and copywriting, graphics, SEO.
Everything!
CopyBrighter
- CSS, XHTML, Flash, content. Graphics with Photoshop.
Native American Language Acquision Project
- This original design features CSS rollover menus, a CSS layout, forms,
and a earth-toned color scheme. It was done entirely in a text-editor.
I'm more of a writer than a coder or visual artist, but I have a good eye for design and strong enough skills to work on any part of a web development project. I've also done my homework on web standards, SEO, accessibility, interface design, usability, eye-tracking and conversion studies.
I avoid using tables for layout and hardcore image slicing, although I do know how to maintain sites that were made this way. I also can design with Flash but prefer to use it sparingly, with choice bits wrapped inside clean XHTML & CSS so that the end-user experience and search engine readability don't suffer.
