Mark Salinas,

Glad you enjoyed this post! Thanks for the feedback.

Searchbuzz,

I would have to look at the sites to give you an exact answer, but I think that is is perfectly natural for sites to have some different and inconsistent anchor text. Unless you're doing automated building (too quickly) or have some kind of obvious pattern or system - I don't see why it would hurt to link to a site a few times with the "Wrong" anchor text. Go slow, see how it goes, and then go faster.

I also thought you might enjoy tip #7 from this article:
http://www.slightlyshadyseo.com/index.php/top-10-tips-for-the-paranoid-seo-masking-your-intentions/

Chris Bennett,

Thanks for the comments! I agree this method works faster than trying to create and get some trust from new pages "from scratch."

Great post, this is a very good tactic. Probably the best way to clean up a Rep under the radar and often faster then other methods.

Per usual, nice post Brett....

Situational Question: “Widgets.com” have a few negative results in the SERPS for the term, “Widgets.com”. “WidgetsABC.com” also ranks for “Widget.com”, but in order to push “WidgetABC.com” up you need to point links with the exact anchor text of "Widget.com", even though the target url is "WidgetABC.com". Wouldn't this leave a unnatural backlink footprint to "WidgetABC.com" and be seen by some as a ‘grey’ technique?

You may have to read that one a few times! ;)

Would you still employ this type of strategy in that type of situation?

Cheers!
